Chicago Bears: 5 Reasons Nick Foles wins the quarterback competition
5. Foles knows that the pressure is more on Trubisky than on him
Yes, Foles has had his struggles. He hasn’t played more than 11 games in a season in his career. On the other hand, he has that Super Bowl and Super Bowl MVP in his pocket.

Foles knows that the pressure is all on Trubisky’s shoulders. He’s the one general manager Ryan Pace chose to be the face of the franchise. So far, Trubisky has failed to live up to expectations. The Bears already failed to pick up his fifth-year option so if he doesn’t win this competition his career goes into a tailspin.
Foles, on the other hand, is playing with house money. Yes, he had a horrible season in 2019. If he fails to win the battle, he’ll find himself in a familiar situation. He’s been a backup and came off the bench to step up and win big games. Since he did it once, he feels he could do it again.
Foles will battle Trubisky to the end. This battle likely extends to the regular season. If Trubisky wins the battle initially, he’ll be on a short leash. Once he starts making the same errors, he knows the Bears have a player behind him who could step in and succeed. He didn’t have that when Chase Daniel was his backup.
Foles can just bide his time and take full advantage of his opportunity once it comes up.
