4. Aaron Jones, RB

One of 2019’s breakout running backs in the NFL was Green Bay’s Aaron Jones. The third-year runner exploded for a league-high 19 total touchdowns while adding over 1,500 scrimmage yards. Jones has always been one of the Packers’ best players, but he finally got the workload to prove his worth last season.

Despite the breakout season, Jones doesn’t seem to get the credit he deserves. He was snubbed from the Pro Bowl and wasn’t even named as an alternate. We’re talking about a player that led the NFL in touchdowns while also averaging 4.6 yards per carry with over 1,000 rushing yards.

Jones was also spurned from a recent list of top 10 running backs. In a poll conducted by ESPN of more than 50 NFL scouts, players and executives, Jones was not named to the consensus top 10 runners in the NFL for the upcoming season.

Similar to the Pro Bowl, it’s important to remember that these types of polls are based more on reputation than anything else. It seems that Jones may need to lead the NFL in touchdowns yet again in order to garner the street cred he deserves. Jones is also entering the final year of his current contract with the Packers, so add that to the list of motivating factors.
