5. Adrian Amos, S

The Packers enjoyed a huge improvement from their safeties in 2019, thanks in large part to Adrian Amos.

More from NFL Spin Zone

Amos was signed as a free agent last offseason and became a key contributor right away. In his first game with Green Bay, he intercepted Mitchell Trubisky on a pass intended toward the back of the endzone, which sealed the Packers’ opening night win against the Bears in Week 1.

Amos has been underrated his entire career, so the fact that he’s underrated as a Packer is no surprise. Since being drafted by Chicago back in 2015, he has yet to be named to a Pro Bowl. Amos has been a major factor every season of his career, earning a career-high 90.9 overall PFF grade (subscription required) in 2017.

A big reason Amos is underrated is the fact that he’s solid in every area. He may not be spectacular at any one task or possess elite athleticism, but he’s a jack of all trades. Amos can fill in gaps as a run defender, play a variety of coverages, and he’s a reliable tackler in the open field. Plus he’s a team leader.

Could 2020 be the first season Amos is recognized as one of the NFL’s most consistent players? Amos undoubtedly should have been named to a Pro Bowl by now, but sometimes it takes the general public awhile to catch up.
