One of the NFL’s most underrated offensive linemen is finally getting some of the credit he deserves. Often touted as the best pass-blocking offensive tackle in the NFL, Packers left tackle David Bakhtiari has held down Aaron Rodgers’ blind side since being drafted in the fourth round in 2013.

But yet, it seems Bakhtiari is lesser known than others. He has been named to twice as many AP All-Pro teams (four times) as Pro Bowls (two times), which illustrates just how underrated he is among the general population of fandom. Bakhtiari has been the Packers’ best offensive linemen for five years now, and it’s time he starts getting the praise he deserves.

According to Pro Football Focus (subscription required), Bakhtiari allowed just two sacks while playing 684 pass-blocking snaps during the 2019 season. He did so facing some of the NFL’s best pass-rushers, such as Von Miller, Brandon Graham, Danielle Hunter and others.

Bakhtiari is entering the final year of his current contract in 2020. It’s highly unlikely the Packers would let him get away in free agency. A contract extension during the season wouldn’t be shocking. If Bakhtiari keeps up his current level of play for years to come, he’ll be on his way to a Hall of Fame career.
