The Baltimore Ravens should rent: Mike Daniels, DT

Standing at 6-1, 310 pounds, long-time Green Bay Packer Mike Daniels remains an affordable, low-risk free agent who can provide the Baltimore Ravens with a defensive tackle who can temporarily fill the void left behind by Michael Pierce.

In his eight-year career, Daniels has started in 74 out of his 110 career games played, in which he compiled 235 total tackles, 49 tackles for loss, 30.0 sacks and two forced fumbles. His greatest asset to the Ravens is being a versatile defensive lineman that can line up anywhere in the trenches who can stop the run or pressure the quarterback.

Of course, with the 31-year old veteran, comes some hefty baggage that may discourage teams from looking his way. In the 2019 season, playing for the Detroit Lions after being released by the Packers, Daniels played in nine games while only starting two of them. His season was cut short due to injury and underperformance with the new team and eventually resulted in his release by Detroit.

If Daniels has recovered from his ailments, however, he will come at a very low cost for the Ravens. The team doesn’t need him to have a Pro-Bowl-caliber year, but if he can be a big body to eat up double-teams for the linebackers while effectively stopping the run, then they should be all over the move.
