Packers early bold prediction No. 4: Allen Lazard tops 1,000 receiving yards

The Packers are in need of a bonafide No. 2 receiver next to Davante Adams, who’s emerged as a superstar over the past two seasons. Despite missing four games last season, Adams finished with 83 receptions for 997 yards and five touchdowns. He was the only player on the entire Packers’ roster to eclipse 500 receiving yards.

The Packers’ second-leading receiver in 2019 was Allen Lazard, who finished with 35 receptions for 477 yards and three touchdowns. There’s a good chance he could have finished with a much better stat line had he been more involved in the offense earlier in the season.

Lazard didn’t catch his first pass of the season until the fourth quarter in Week 6 against the Detroit Lions. Aaron Rodgers had to plead to get Lazard on the field after the Packers offense was struggling all game. Lazard finished as the team’s leading receiver that game, hauling in four passes for 65 yards and a touchdown which helped spark a Packers’ 23-22 comeback win.

Lazard appears to have all the tools to succeed as an NFL-caliber receiver. He has the size (6-5, 227), strength and play speed. My bold prediction for Lazard is that he eclipses the 1,000-yard mark, assuming he’ll be more involved in 2020.
