2020 NFL Power Rankings: Patriots moving up as training camp nears

Washington drops from No. 32 to 31 at the bottom of NFL Power Rankings
The Washington football team is currently undergoing a huge change as they are changing their name. This is something that should have been done years ago but team owner Dan Snyder stubbornly refused to believe that there was any reason to change the moniker, even though it was clearly an offensive name.

It took pressure from sponsors to finally wake him up and he’s surely reluctant to make any change. However, it will be a good thing for the owner of the franchise when all is said and done.
Sure, there’s something good about a team with a deep history but at the same time, a new name and a rebrand also can be very good for a team. There’s going to be new merch flooding the stores and that means Snyder will cash in, even if he’s being forced to do this.
As for the product on the field, Washington has a long way to go. Head coach Ron Rivera was a ski hire and has a history of coaching solid defenses. That should continue in D.C. especially with the addition of rookie Chase Young.
On offense, they need to get more talent to contend. Dwayne Haskins could be the guy but there’s a lack of help around him, especially in the passing game. This could be a tough season for them, but Washington has some nice pieces to build around.
Having said all that, this team is a dumpster fire off the field and that’s going to be an issue. There are some seriously heinous allegations about the people in charge and hopefully, before the season is over, there will be more than just a new name in D.C.
