Dallas Cowboys cornerbacks: Starters

Chidobe Awuzie

We looked at Chidobe Awuzie quickly when breaking down the Dallas Cowboys safeties simply because there’s a chance he could move to that spot thanks to the depth the suddenly have. Sure, saying Dallas is deep at corner goes against the narrative but they actually do have a lot of talent at this position.

As for Awuzie, he enters 2020 as their best cornerback but the question remains about his fit with the team. New defensive coordinator Mike Nolan has gone out of his way to add taller receivers with long arms and while Awuzie has the height, his length could hurt him.

Having said that, he’s good at playing the ball and if this new staff allows him to play to his strengths, there could be a lot of doubters eating crow. If they don’t, this could be his final season in Dallas — but don’t be shocked if he has success elsewhere, because he probably will.

Daryl Worley

Daryl Worley was one of those bigger-bodied corners added this offseason as Dallas signed the 6-1, 215-pound Worley after he spent the past two seasons with the Oakland Raiders. Ideally, he will be a backup to Trevon Diggs but with the limited offseason programs and potential elimination of the preseason, Worley’s experience could work in his favor for now.

Anthony Brown

A sixth-round pick out of Purdue in 2016, Anthony Brown has been a stellar find for Dallas. He continues to perform well as a slot cornerback and was given a healthy extension this offseason. He misses seven games in 2019 and his absence was felt.

In all, he has 172 tackles, 32 pass breakups, four interceptions and three sacks in his four-year career. Not bad at all for a player who nearly made it to the final round of the draft.
