3. Trysten Hill vs. Neville Gallimore

In 2019, the Dallas Cowboys were without a first-round pick thanks to their trade during the 2018 season that landed them Amari Cooper. They were more than thrilled with their return on investment but it still meant they had to watch as some of the biggest names in the draft came off the board before they had a chance to pick.

When they finally were on the clock, it was at No. 58 overall which is where they took Trysten Hill out of UCF. As soon as the pick was announced, there was a collective groan heard throughout Cowboys nation as fans were less than thrilled with selections.

Hill was a talented prospect but there were some serious question marks which included him not getting along with the new staff at UCF, resulting in him being a reserve in his final season. Even so, he offered enough for Dallas to take a flier but so far, it has not paid off as he enters his second NFL season with just five tackles under his belt.

As camp opens up, Hill will be battling for the primary reserve spot behind Gerald McCoy but he has competition now that Neville Gallimore was selected. Unlike Hil, Gallimore was no reach for Dallas since they picked him 82nd overall — which was an absolute steal when considering his talent.

For Hill, this is especially concerning since he was handpicked by former defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli — meaning new coordinator Mike Nolan doesn’t have anything invested in him the way the outgoing staff did. For that reason, Gallimore could very well surpass Hill and if we are being honest, he probably will.
