4. Blake Jarwin, TE

When Jason Witten left in free agency this offseason, the Dallas Cowboys showed they had tremendous faith in their fourth-year tight end Blake Jarwin. Not only did they decide against adding any real competition in free agency, but they also skipped the position completely in the draft.

Their biggest move when it came to adding anyone was signing Blake Bell, the former No. 2 tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs. A former quarterback at Oklahoma, Bell is expected to be primarily a blocker but he has flashed some in the passing game.

As for Jarwin, he’s expected to take on an even bigger role as a receiver following a campaign that saw him grab 31 receptions for 365 yards with six touchdowns. He showed enough that the Cowboys decided to pay him $24.25 million on a three-year extension. And the expectation is that he will shine now that Mike McCarthy is in charge of the team.

Of course, he could also become a bit of a forgotten man. Dallas also has Amari Cooper, Michael Gallup, and rookie CeeDee Lamb in the passing game and running back Ezekiel Elliott is going to get a lot of touches as well. For Jarwin, that’s not really a bad thing. With so much attention going towards those players, he could find some soft spots in the defense and really take advantage of the opportunities he does get — and don’t be surprised if he enters camp playing better than ever now that he’s the guy.
