By Samuel Teets
2. Rookie wide receivers looking to make an impact
Last year, only one Broncos wide receiver recorded over 500 receiving yards. Courtland Sutton led the team with 72 receptions for 1,112 yards and six touchdowns. Tight end Noah Fant finished second in all of those categories with 40 receptions, 562 yards and three touchdowns. The team’s third-leading receiver was Emmanuel Sanders, and he only played seven games with Denver last year.

With Drew Lock emerging as the team’s future starter, the Broncos addressed their need at wide receiver during the 2020 NFL Draft. The team used its top two selections on receivers, adding Alabama’s Jerry Jeudy and Penn State’s KJ Hamler. Denver went back to the well in the seventh-round, taking Florida’s Tyrie Cleveland.
While Cleveland is a stretch to make the final roster, Hamler and Jeudy should slide in behind Sutton. As the second wide receiver drafted, there are high expectations for Jeudy this year. Fans want to know how much the Crimson Tide product can contribute from a fantasy football perspective.
There’s also Hamler, who won’t see as many targets as Jeudy. While Jeudy flashed incredible precision with his route running, Hamler is all about speed. The Penn State product ran a 4.27-second 40-yard dash at his pro day, which is the same time Henry Ruggs posted at the NFL Combine. Hamler could become an inconsistent fantasy contributor, but he’ll go off every couple of weeks with several big plays.
