After losing Robert Quinn in free agency, the Dallas Cowboys were in need of some depth at defensive end. They were looking at K’Lavon Chaisson in the draft but they ended up passing on him for CeeDee Lamb, which was the right move.

It does leave them with some concerns as Tyrone Crawford and Aldon Smith are the favorites to start opposite DeMarcus Lawrence. Smith is a wildcard since he hasn’t played in four years whereas Crawford is a solid option —‚ but is starting out on the PUP list after hip surgery.

Dorance Armstrong is also there but he has yet to log significant snaps in the NFL, so there’s no guarantee he can be the guy. With all that being said, there wouldn’t be too many who would be shocked if Dallas added a free agent defensive end and there are still a couple of big names out there.

The biggest is, of course, Jadeveon Clowney. The former No. 1 overall pick of the Houston Texans out of South Carolina is still looking for his next home after spending one season with the Seattle Seahawks. Clowney wanted a long-term contract but after not getting one, he could settle for a one-year deal on a team such as Dallas.

Not only would it be a great move for the team but Clowney could excel lined up across from Lawrence and earn a huge deal — much in the way Quinn did last year.

This one could be a win-win for both the player and the team.
