3. Can Julian Edelman continue to thrive in offense?

One consistent thing with the Patriots annually has been the consistency and dominance of veteran wide receiver Julian Edelman on the outside of the field.

Although Edelman won’t be catching passes from his longtime friend Tom Brady during the 2020 campaign in New England, he will no doubt continue to be a top target on offense for this team and will likely be that player for the remainder of his time in the NFL. His consistency and reliability alone makes him a solid addition to any fantasy football lineup.

With a new quarterback under center this season, it will be interesting to see if Edelman and the rest of the offense will be able to return to dominance and thrive in a similar yet somewhat different system during the upcoming year.

During the 2019 season, the Patriots struggled to really find a dominant group of receivers to surround Edelman with, leaving somewhat of an unfair disadvantage for the veteran player while opposing defenses zeroed in on him to try and shut him and the pass attack down.

But Edelman continued to step up week-in and week-out and continued to be that reliable target for his quarterback throughout the course of any game and season.

With a new quarterback taking over the charge on offense, Edelman will be the No. 1 option for whoever that quarterback is while he enters his 11th season in the NFL and with New England.

A season ago, Edelman finished the year appearing in all 16 of the Patriots’ regular-season contests and also took the field for the lone playoff game. During the regular season, the wideout led the receiving unit with a career-high 1,117 yards along with 100 catches and six touchdowns. He also managed to record a few minor rushing stats, finishing with 27 yards and eight carries on the ground.

The Patriots and Edelman hope to pick things up right where they left off in past seasons as far as the veteran wideout’s production throughout the field and in the passing game in New England. If that is the case, he will return as a solid player to draft for your fantasy lineup in 2020.
