Five bold predictions for Dallas Cowboys training camp

We are roughly one week into the Dallas Cowboys first training camp and there has been a mixture of exciting moments, as well as a huge loss. The excitement comes from all of the changes in Big D.

Dallas decided to move on from Jason Garrett this offseason as they now turn things over to Mike McCarthy. The former Green Bay Packers head coach did retain Kellen Moore as the offensive coordinator but he brought in his own defensive coach and special teams guy.

On defense, Mike Nolan will be the coordinator whereas John Fassel will head up special teams. With their arrival, fans are anxious to see how different things can be — especially on the defensive line.

With Nolan in charge, the Cowboys have decided to employ a bigger unit than they had with Rod Marinelli. That beefed-up line included Dontari Poe and Gerald McCoy in the middle, two of their biggest free-agent additions. They also brought in Everson Griffen to play defensive end opposite DeMarcus Lawrence.

However, the defensive line is also where the aforementioned bog loss comes in. Dallas saw one of those new faces go down quickly as McCoy suffered a serious quad injury that led to him being waived as he will miss the entire season.

As upsetting as that was, there’s still been a lot of positives to take away during the first week of camp. Here, we look at some of the bigger news while making five bold predictions for the Cowboys during their 2020 training camp.
