2020 NFL Power Rankings: Cowboys defense has hopes high

Buffalo Bills drop from 10 to 12
Another team that was carried by their defense in 2019 was the Buffalo Bills. Second-year quarterback Josh Allen was wildly inconsistent, and the offense as a whole really struggled to put together a complete game from week to week. They had flashes but never seemed to be able to get over the hump. One reason was their lack of a No. 1 wide receiver, but that should be fixed now that they traded their first-round pick in 2020 to Minnesota for Stefon Diggs.
It was really a smart move by general manager Brandon Beane and head coach Sean McDermott. With that first-round pick up theirs, Buffalo was going to just pick a wide receiver anyway. That receiver would have been coming to the league with talent (especially in this stacked class), but without any experience in the NFL. Instead of waiting for that guy to develop, they landed Diggs, who has already had plenty of success of the pro level.
That gives Allen a player who can hold up his end of the deal, meaning they will get a much better read on their young quarterback‚ and they need that in this crucial third season of his.
Buffalo’s defense is good enough to keep them in the game against anyone so as long as Diggs can help the offense improve, the Bills will be challenging New England for the AFC East this season.
