4. Eric Reid

If you’re looking at what Eric Reid could be for the Browns secondary, then don’t look at his 2019 season. Playing for a Panthers defense that was ultimately in shambles and led to Ron Rivera being fired, Reid struggled as he was one of the worst qualifying safeties in terms of grade according to PFF (subscription required).

Having said that, this isn’t necessarily about what Reid was last year but, rather, what he has been for much of his career. It would be a stretch to say that Reid has ever been a superstar in his NFL career. However, the 28-year-old safety has been a consistent presence in almost every season and the 2019 campaign is an outlier in that regard. As he looks for a job, the Browns pairing him with Sendejo could definitely shore up the back end of the secondary.

3. Jahleel Addae

This would certainly be a dart-throw for the Browns as Jahleel Addae is not the sexy pick of this group nor is he the best overall player of the potential options to replace Delpit. Having said that, if the team is simply looking for a veteran to platoon with Sendejo and provide reliable depth, then Addae would be a cost-effective option who has played well throughout his career.

The big issue with Addae is that the 30-year-old has struggled in coverage over the past two seasons, grading out well below average according to PFF (subscription required). Prior to that, though, he had been an average-to-above-average player in that capacity. He may not be an every-down starter like the Browns hoped Delpit would be but Addae could provide some stability, which is necessary for the defense to take a step forward.
