5. Everson Griffen leads Dallas in sacks

Last season, the Dallas Cowboys went out and traded for Robert Quinn from the Miami Dolphins. Their goal was to add a second top-tier pass-rusher across from DeMarcus Lawrence and the plan worked out very well. Quinn was suspended for the first two games of the season but as soon as he was reinstated, he started to take off.

Quinn was a force on the defensive line as he camped out in the offensive backfield all season long. He finished with 11.5 sacks which was the most he had put up since 2013 — and the first double-digit output for the veteran since 2014.

His breakout season led to a big contract from the Chicago Bears and Dallas was left to look for his replacement. It took them quite some time, but in the end, they did well as they landed Everson Griffen formerly of the Minnesota Vikings.

Griffen now enters the 2020 season fresh off his fourth Pro Bowl but like Quinn, he hasn’t been racking up the double-digit sacks in recent years. Griffen isn’t facing as long of a drought, having recorded 13 in 2017, but would still surely like to see an increase from the eight he had a season ago.

In this prediction, he not only does that but also leads the Cowboys in sacks. As was the case with Quinn, the presence of DeMarcus Lawrence helps tremendously in that regard as offenses will game plan to keep No. 90 away, which will help Griffen take advantage of some favorable matchups.
