Wide Receivers (6)

Who’s in: Allen Robinson, Anthony Miller, Ted Ginn, Darnell Mooney, Riley Ridley, Javon Wims
Practice Squad: Reggie Davis

The wide receivers unit needs to step up as a group. Aside from Robinson’s great season and Miller’s partial contribution, there wasn’t much more contribution from the other receivers. Yes, Taylor Gabriel had a great game against Washington but that was it and he is now gone.

Robinson will try to have another great season with whoever starts at quarterback. Miller has impressed the coaching staff. It seems like he finally flipped the switch and may be ready to contribute for a full season instead of having big ups and downs.

Ginn and Mooney are the speedsters on the unit. Even at 35, Ginn has incredible speed and will be a home run target. He averaged 14 yards per catch which would have been the highest of any receiver in Chicago. Mooney will be the younger version of Ginn. He ran a 4.38-second 40 at the NFL Combine and, so far in camp, his speed continues with his pads on.

Riley Ridley and Javon Wims are the outside route runners who have good hands and body control to make acrobatic catches.

With better offensive line and quarterback play, this unit should have more contributors. Hopefully, the speedsters do their job of extending the defense, allowing the other receivers space underneath to make catches and gain yards after.
