3. Offense will continue to thrive

Although Gary Kubiak will be taking things over as the new official offensive coordinator, the Vikings will run a very similar system in 2020 and will have a lot of continuity among personnel on that side of the ball.

With the exception of Stefon Diggs, who was traded to the Buffalo Bills this offseason, Minnesota will return basically every starter from the 2019 campaign, once again being led by quarterback Kirk Cousins, running back Dalvin Cook, wide receiver Adam Thielen and others.

That means the Vikings should be able to thrive on the offensive side of the ball while continuing to be a consistent unit week-in and week-out. They aren’t necessarily flashy, but they get the job done and have shown the ability to do so in past years.

During the 2019 season, the Vikings offense was more run-heavy than pass reliant, which is what Mike Zimmer has pushed for more and more in the last few years.

In the passing attack, Minnesota tallied a total of 466 pass attempts, which was the third-least in the NFL. Only the Tennessee Titans (448) and Baltimore Ravens (440) threw less than the Vikings.

The Vikings finished 24th in the league in passing yards (3,729) while completing 68.5 percent of those attempts (fourth-best in NFL). They also ranked 14th in passing touchdowns (26) and tied for fourth with just eight interceptions.

On the ground in the running game, Minnesota ran the ball 476 times, which was fourth-most in the NFL. It ranked sixth in the league in rushing yards (2,133), 11th in yards per carry (4.5) and sixth in rushing touchdowns (19).

Given some of the question marks when it comes to the defensive side of the ball for the Vikings, they will rely on their steady offense to continue to thrive in what they hope will be a lengthy 2020 campaign.
