3 Tights ends Dallas Cowboys could trade for after Blake Jarwin injury
By Randy Gurzi
1. Gerald Everett, Los Angeles Rams
The Los Angeles Rams stole a game from the Dallas Cowboys so why not see if they can steal a player from the Rams? Gerald Everett is a very talented pass-catching tight end but he’s been surpassed by Tyler Higbee.
After Higbee broke out to close the 2019 season, he’s remained the No. 1 tight end in Los Angeles this season. In Week 1 against Dallas, Higbee had 40 yards on three catches with four passes coming his way. As for Everett, he had only two targets and caught one for seven yards.
Even with Higbee overtaking him, Everett still had a respectable 408 yards and two touchdowns on 37 receptions for the Rams in 2019. So, with that being the case, why would they be willing to move on from him? Well if they are, it could be due to the fact that Everett is in the final year of his rookie deal. And Los Angeles likely isn’t going to re-sign Everett after spending a fourth-round pick on Brycen Hopkins out of Purdue this season.
Should the Rams feel as though Hopkins could perform in the No. 2 role, they might be willing to listen to an offer for Everett. It could be in their interest to get something for him now, as opposed to letting him leave in 2021 as a free agent and receiving nothing.
And for Dallas, Everett could be a long-term option, especially if there are lingering effects for Jarwin after his injury.
