There weren’t a whole lot of positives in this one to take away. The Miami Dolphins had a rough start to the season as they were defeated 21 to 11 against the New England Patriots.

More from NFL Spin Zone

The Patriots new offense centered around Cam Newton, who had 75 yards rushing on the ground and lead them to 217 total yards rushing and three touchdowns on the ground. Miami struggled to match this as they had on the 87 yards rushing on 27 attempts. But the real problem was the turnovers.

Starting quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick completed 20 of his 30 pass attempts but had only 191 yards and while he didn’t manage to throw any touchdowns, he had three interceptions on the day. The biggest highlight of the day for Fitzpatrick was a 12-yard run, that helped set up Miami’s a long touchdown on the day. It was a rough start for the team, but it was one that was expected as this roster is far from a competitive one.

They will have to resist the temptation to move on from Fitzpatrick and throw the rookie, Tua Tagovailoa, into the starting lineup since this roster is not good enough to keep him from getting beat up this season.
