Minnesota Vikings Week 2 Stud: Dalvin Cook

Basically the only bright spot in the Vikings offense during the game came out of the backfield with Minnesota running back Dalvin Cook. Although Cook surprisingly didn’t get a heavy workload on offense in the game, he did manage to lead the rushing attack with a total of 14 carries for 63 yards and one touchdown.

More from NFL Spin Zone

Cook is an important part of the Vikings offense, and they need to focus on getting him the ball more than he has in the first two weeks of the year. Allowing Cook to operate on the ground within Minnesota’s offense only opens things up more in the passing game that has struggled mightily early on in the new year.

Minnesota Vikings Week 2 Dud: First-half performance

The Vikings did put together a solid opening drive that resulted in three points after a failed red zone conversion early in the game.

Outside of that drive, though, the Vikings looked horrible in the first half and that put them behind early on while not being able to catch up or get much going the rest of the game.

Minnesota grabbed a 3-0 lead after the first quarter, but allowed Indianapolis to hold a 15-0 advantage in the second quarter to grab a 12-point lead going into halftime.

Especially in road games, you have to get out to a quick start in the first half of games while trying to take the home team out of it. Unfortunately for Minnesota, that never happened Sunday.
