team. 123. . . Previous: 13th. Dallas Cowboys. 11

What a remarkable win for the Dallas Cowboys. They had to listen to the talk all week about how they hadn’t changed at all from the previous coaching regime after dropping a close game to the Los Angeles Rams in Week 1 — and then it looked worse when they came out flat in Week 2.

Dallas was without their two starting offensive tackles and that led to some early pressure on Dak Prescott and some pressing by him and the rest of the offense. Prescott, Ezekiel Elliott, and Dalton Schultz all had fumbles in the first quarter and Dallas also had a terrible fake punt that attributed to a 20-0 hole.

Somehow, they found a way to continue to chip away at that score and the credit should primarily go to Prescott. The young quarterback had 450 yards passing with one passing touchdown and three rushing scores. He never gave up and his effort was contagious.

Still, Dallas also needed a little luck as they recovered an onside kickoff that the Falcons really blew it on. That allowed Prescott to hit CeeDee Lamb for a huge gain and it put them in range for Greg Zuerlein to send the Dirty Birds home with a loss by a score of 40-39.

It was important for the Cowboys since an 0-2 start could have been a death sentence. It also puts them in a first-place tie with the Washington Football Team, who suffered a loss this week after upsetting the Eagles in Week 1.

Not every win is pretty but they all count the same. Dallas found a way to turn one of their worst starts ever into a win, which could give them a lot of momentum moving forward.
