NFL Week 3: Biggest questions entering the weekend
3. What does the future hold for the injury-riddled 49ers?
The San Francisco 49ers were the team hit hardest by the injury bug on Sunday, losing Nick Bosa and Solomon Thomas for the season on the defensive side of the ball. On the offense, quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is already ruled out for Week 3 and their starting running backs, Raheem Mostert and Tevin Coleman are both going to miss time.

These players all join the 49ers already long list of players with injuries, with Richard Sherman, George Kittle and Deebo Samuel all already having missed time this year.
However, it is not all doom and gloom for the 49ers. Though injuries are never welcomed, they could not have come at a better time for the Niners, with them getting to play the Giants, Eagles and Dolphins in the coming weeks, three teams who have yet to pick up a win in 2020.
If they can get through these next couple of weeks and get their core players healthy, they will go into the meat of their schedule at nearly full force. If they are unable to get healthy, things could go downhill quickly, as the only game they have the rest of the year against a bottom-half team comes in Week 14 against Washington.
In an extremely competitive NFC West, the 49er’s playoff chances could very well lie in the timely recovery of their key players.
