Chicago Bears: Good, bad and ugly from Week 3 victory
The Good: Foles comes off the bench, Robinson plays well
Tell me if you’ve heard this before: Nick Foles comes off the bench to help his team win. This is the headline to describe his career. He becomes a starter, then struggles. While he languishes on the bench, he’s called to come in. He gets back onto the field and leads his team to victories.

This is exactly what happened in Week 3. After Trubisky struggled in the first half, we thought we were back on his roller-coaster ride. That didn’t happen when he went out for the third quarter. He led a three-play drive that ended in an ugly interception. With Trubisky, the offense was just 1/8 on third downs. Nagy decided he saw enough and pulled Trubisky.
Nagy sent Foles in and he responded. He ended the game 16-of-29 for 188 yards, three touchdowns and an interception. Foles’ throws were around the end zone so much that he also had two other touchdown passes that were reversed.
The team responded to Foles. His throws were a shot in the arm for the offense. Even when he didn’t complete the pass, he threw it to where the receiver had a chance to get to it. With Trubisky, there were a lot of passes overthrown by a lot and thrown behind receivers.
Foles most likely earned a start next week. Nagy wouldn’t commit to anything but as bad as Trubisky looked and as good as Foles played, Nagy probably has his mind made up for Foles.
Let’s see if the Bears get a complete game for the first time this season in Week 4.
Wide receiver Allen Robinson received some unwarranted criticism after last week’s game. Some people had the nerve to question his desire after his contract dispute became public. Some of those same critics were ready to speak up again after he had the ball stolen from him for the second straight game.
Robinson came back, however, and had a big game. He finished with 10 catches for 123 yards and a big touchdown.
