NFL Week 3: 15 Observations on overtime rules, Josh Allen and more
By Zach Cohen
11. Joe Burrow could use some protection
Don’t we all, in 2020? But keeping the first overall pick upright should be the top priority going forward. I’m sure the Bengals’ brass realizes this, but it’s ridiculous to see Burrow scrambling for his life on almost every snap. Seeing the hit like the massive one he took on Sunday is even more worrisome.9

10. Carson Wentz’s regression is concerning
Wentz wasn’t exactly money in the Eagles’ 23-23 tie against the Bengals, though he did drop this dime to Zach Ertz. It hasn’t been the best season for Wentz. He already has his lowest completion percentage and touchdown-interception ratio of his five-year career — albeit, it’s only been three games.
Use a simple eye test, though, and it’s clear that Wentz has taken a noticeable step back from his sophomore season. It could be an overreaction, but the Eagles will need much more out of Wentz if their banged-up roster is to reach the postseason.
9. The Rams should still hold their heads high
Yes, a loss is never a good thing, especially when the referees stripped the game from you.
But it’s telling that the team could will it’s way back from a 28-3 deficit. The Bills are one of the hottest teams in the league, and despite the loss, the Rams have looked good throughout all three games so far. Even the defense looks better than a year ago. I’d still have confidence that Sean McVay’s squad can have a good season. The NFC West is suddenly looking very competitive.
