Fulgham and the line

Stud: WR Travis Fulgham

Where have all these receivers come from with all the injuries? The former Old Dominion Monarch has been a viable option the last two games for the Eagles.

Against the Steelers, Fulgham had 10 catches for 152 yards and one touchdown. The longest catch went for 31 yards. In addition, Fulgham had a number of key catches that gave the Eagles hope in a game that likely should have been a second-half blowout.

Against both the 49ers and the Steelers, Fulgham has shown that players can come from anywhere and by contributing, they gain more opportunities. Two touchdowns in two games, both touchdowns on impressive catches, show that he just might have done enough to keep the job, even if the starters were to return at some point this season.

Fulgham will have to gain more consistency if he wants to stay in the lineup and help the Eagles stay afloat in a division that is floundering at every opportunity.

Dud: Eagles Offensive Line

To say it was embarrassing is putting it too kindly. Not enough running lanes to allow Miles Sanders to utilize his elusiveness, and on top of it all, allow Carson Wentz to commit multiple turnovers while go down five times. Plus Lane Johnson, the team’s best player on the line, went out during the game, which ultimately highlighted that the depth on the line is not enough.

The Steelers have one of the elite defenses in the league, and they have been doing it on first-stringers. Getting a shot at a second or even third-string lineup only added to salivating at the mouth that was coming from Devin Bush, T.J. Watt, and company.

The Eagles will need to get their line fixed soon. They may have the division right now, but come postseason time, it’s only going to get worse. The proof is in the pudding from last year in the Wild-Card round against the Seahawks, and history does have a way of repeating itself.
