31. . . Previous: 31st. New York Giants. 30. team

The New York Giants moved up from No. 31 in these 2020 NFL Power Rankings to No. 30 even though they lost. But that has very little to do with them.

Sure, they fought hard in their game against the Dallas Cowboys and it took some last-minute heroics from backup quarterback Andy Dalton and Michael Gallup to defeat the Giants, but their fight in that game wasn’t why they moved. No, that is all about how bad the Falcons have been, who came in at No. 31.

Having said that, the Giants did give the Cowboys all they could handle. They jumped out to a 14-3 lead and then after Dak Prescott suffered his ankle injury, they found a way to take the lead back.

But then, they let Dalton lead them down the field for a tying field goal before giving up two monstrous catches to Michael Gallup (some ref somewhere wanted to throw an offensive pass interference on him) that set up the game-winner.

They did score 34 points but then again, everyone drops 30 or more on Dallas, so it’s hard to tell if that was actual progress or if it was just the fact that they were playing a defense that the Big 12 would laugh at. Either way, this team isn’t very good.
