With Dan Quinn out as head coach of the Atlanta Falcons, here are five candidates who could take over.
Changes are beginning to take place for the Atlanta Falcons in the early stages of the 2020 NFL season.
In Week 5, the Atlanta Falcons fell for the fifth straight time to begin the new year after dropping a contest at home to the Carolina Panthers to move the team to 0-5 and remain as one of the few remaining teams in the league to have yet to record a win.
Along with the news of yet another loss for Atlanta, even bigger news took place after the conclusion of that game when the Falcons fired head coach Dan Quinn and general manager Thomas Dimitroff.
When it comes to Quinn, his head coaching stint in Atlanta comes to a close after over five years at the head of the Atlanta Falcons. Most recently, his team got off to another disappointing start to the year, sitting at 0-5 overall for the first time since 1997.
In his sixth season as head coach this year, Quinn had recorded a record of 43-42 in his time in Atlanta. After reaching the Super Bowl with the Falcons in 2016, the team has since gone 7-9 overall in each of the last two seasons.
Quinn did manage to coach the Falcons in five playoff games, holding a record of 3-2 overall including that loss in the Super Bowl in 2016 at the hands of the New England Patriots.
With another dreadful start to the season, though, a new voice might be the best thing for the franchise both on the sidelines with the head coach and in the front office with the general manager.
Now with major changes underway, let’s take a closer look specifically at the head coaching position and who could potentially replace Quinn at the helm of the Atlanta Falcons both in 2021 and beyond.
