NFL Power Rankings, Week 7: Steelers, Buccaneers make emphatic leap
By Randy Gurzi
It looked as though Joe Burrow was going to lead the Cincinnati Bengals to their second win, and it would have been a good one for him and the team. After being beaten badly in Week 5 by the Baltimore Ravens, Burrow was out to prove his struggles in that game were a one-time problem. The good news is, he proved that was true as he was solid in Week 6.
Burrow finished with 313 yards and while he didn’t throw a touchdown, he did lead Cincinnati to 24 points in the first half — including 21 straight to start the game. Even with them slowing down in the third, they entered the final 15 minutes with a lead over the Colts.
Indianapolis, however, continued to chip away and a touchdown pass from Philip Rivers to Jack Doyle gave them a one-point lead. Rodrigo Blankenship hit a field goal with just over four minutes to go, which made it a four-point game. That make was huge as Burrow moved the ball to the Indianapolis 35 with under a minute to play before throwing a pick to end the game.
Had they been within one, he would have been more cautious with the ball and could have played for the field goal to win it.
