2. Cameron Brate, TE, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

As awkward as it is to trade with a team that just humiliated you, the Green Bay Packers and general manager Brian Gutekunst would be wise to take advantage of the tight end situation with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers by trading for Cameron Brate.

Brate has fallen out of favor with the Buccaneers but it’s not because he’s not talented; it’s because he has multiple studs ahead of him and there’s only so much playing time to be handed out to tight ends on the field.

With Tonyan down, rookie Josiah Deguara out for the season and Jace Sternberger unable to find his role in the offense, the Packers need a reliable tight end who can block in the run game and can create a threat on offense as a receiving option.

Headed into Week 7 of the 2020 NFL season, Brate has recorded just seven receptions for 50 yards and a touchdown with zero drops. Playing in all six games without a single start would cause Brate’s value in a potential trade would be quite low and should be something that Green Bay will take advantage of.

Marcedes Lewis is a reliable blocking tight end for the Green Bay Packers but the team lacks playmakers at the position, which is a red flag considering that head coach Matt LaFleur runs a two-tight end offense.

Acquiring Brate from the Bucs would give the Packers someone who can add depth and skill to the tight end position while leaving Tampa Bay satisfied for gaining something in value for their third-string tight end, thus being a win-win deal here for a low cost.
