4. Chuma Edoga, Offensive Tackle

Something else that has been no secret in the NFL this season is the fact that the Dallas Cowboys offensive line has been an absolute mess. They have been ravaged by injury with both starting tackles La’el Collins and Tyron Smith done for the season. Also out right now is right guard Zack Martin who joins center Joe Looney on the list of players who could miss a couple of weeks’ worth of action.

Add all this up and only Conner Williams remains as the only original starter still on the field. And Williams has been the most maligned player on that line as he has struggled at times since transitioning from tackle in college to guard in the NFL.

It’s gotten so bad that the Cowboys seem thrilled to have Cameron Erving returning after he was injured in Week 1 on a special teams play. A former first-round pick, Erving was beaten out by Terence Steele to start in Week 1, but Steele’s struggles should mean the Cowboys will be willing to put Erving back in the lineup opposite Brandon Knight.

Of course, that still doesn’t instill a lot of confidence in this line. For that reason, they might want to look for help and someone such as Chuma Edoga could be a solid add. He’s still young and was a third-round pick in 2019 but the Jets might be willing to part with him considering they just gave George Fant a three-year contract this offseason and then drafted Mekhi Becton.

Edoga did start in Week 6 against the Miami Dolphins as Fant dealt with a concussion and he played well enough to give a team like Dallas a reason to make a trade.
