2021 NFL Mock Draft: Justin Fields takes Washington, Packers get Rashod Bateman
By Randy Gurzi
After firing Dan Quinn, the Atlanta Falcons entire defense improved. Still, they need more talent on that side of the ball and while an edge rusher would be ideal, passing up Micah Parsons would be too hard. He’s a do-it-all linebacker and while he doesn’t necessarily play on the edge, he can still bring the pressure as well. This guy will make the entire defense better.
(Pick via Houston Texans) – Tua Tagovailoa will be taking over for the Miami Dolphins after their bye week and while he has all the tools to succeed, there’s one problem — the roster around him has some holes. The main problem in their offensive line, which is why they use their first of two picks in the opening round of this 2021 NFL Mock Draft on Penei Sewell out of Oregon.
Keeping Tua upright will be the most important factor in whether or not he makes it in South Beach. This move helps ensure he has the best chance for that to happen.
Just like the Miami Dolphins with Tua, the Cincinnati Bengals need to find a way to keep Joe Burrow upright going forward. He’s looked the part but has had trouble staying in the pocket since the pocket collapses so quickly.
With that being said, they land Alex Leatherwood who is capable of starting from day one. He should help Burrow take his next step as a quarterback.
The third quarterback taken in the 2020 NFL Draft was Justin Herbert and his team comes up right after the two taken ahead of him. Also like Tua and Burrow, Herbert needs help on the front lines which is why we take Wyatt Davis from Ohio State here.
While we wait to see what Tua can do, both Burrow and Herbert have been electric and Herbert has really impressed as he went toe-to-toe with Patrick Mahomes and Drew Brees. He held his own in those matches and should be even better with an improved line in front of him.
