Atlanta Falcons Week 7 Studs: Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley

Another thing that was really good to see if you are a Falcons fan on Sunday afternoon against the Lions was the production from the dynamic wide receiving duo of Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley. When both receivers are healthy, they are arguably the best duo pass catchers in the entire NFL, and they stepped up throughout the course of the game in Week 7.

Jones was able to take the field after his status was in question once again leading up to the contest, and the star wideout led the way for the Falcons receiving unit. Jones finished the game with a team-best eight catches on nine targets, hauling in a total of 97 yards through the air.

Ridley continued his solid play as of late, recording a receiving touchdown to closely follow what Jones was able to do on the other side of the field. Along with that touchdown, Ridley finished with five catches for 69 yards through the air.

It’s good to see this duo of Jones and Ridley back healthy to lead the way for the offense. Now, it’s about keeping them both healthy and on the field together more often than not the rest of the season.

Atlanta Falcons Week 7 Dud: Struggles in the second half

After a relatively strong first half, the first dud that appeared for the Falcons this weekend came in the final two quarters and the team’s production especially late in the game (more on that in a few slides).

For most of the second half, Atlanta wasn’t able to get much going on the offensive side of the ball but stuck around for most of the game thanks to an effort by the defense to give it a shot late in the contest.

After going off for 14 points in the first two quarters while taking a 14-10 lead into halftime, Detroit took a 16-14 lead late into the fourth frame while adding two field goals prior to that point.

Atlanta did end up pulling away with just over a minute to go in the game, thanks to a rushing touchdown from Todd Gurley, but blew the game in typical Falcons fashion in the final seconds to take another loss.
