Dud: Jaylon Smith, Linebacker

Jaylon Smith has not been good since signing his extension last season. He’s been picked on constantly by opposing offenses and that was the case once again in Week 7. Early in the game, he was beaten on a route by running back J.D. McKissic on 3rd and 8. That kept the drive alive and allowed the Football Team to score their first touchdown of the game.

After Dallas finally scored a field goal, Smith had another mistake. He was called for pass interference on an incompletion – and despite it being a clear penalty, he came up celebrating afterward. Social media had their way with him as Smith has become known for celebrating plays he shouldn’t.

Even former players were less than thrilled with how Smith was acting after the obvious penalty.

Smith’s struggles continued later on as he was beaten by Logan Thomas for a touchdown late in the second quarter that put Dallas behind 22-3. He’s making a ton of money and right now, he hasn’t seemed worth it.

Stud: Amari Cooper

Perhaps no one’s stock has suffered more due to the loss of Dak Prescott that Amari Cooper. Since joining Dallas, Cooper has been one of the best receivers in the NFL. He and Dak have had a great rapport from their first game together and it had only been improving. So far, Cooper and Andy Dalton do not have that connection.

In this one, Cooper did all he could as he had a great catch on third down just after the two-minute warning in the first half. He also caught a 32-yard reception from Ben DiNucci. In all, he had 80 yards on seven receptions and a run for five yards. Most impressively, he caught everything thrown his way.

Cooper did all he could but the rest of the offense was off and that hurt the entire team.
