The first player that could be an attractive piece for other teams in the NFL who are hoping to either make the playoffs or make a deep run in the postseason is Falcons defensive back Ricardo Allen.

More from NFL Spin Zone

Turning 29 years old in December, Allen is a nice player in the back end of the defense who has been pretty solid for Atlanta over the course of his seven-year NFL career.

Since breaking into the NFL in 2014, Allen has spent time at both safety and cornerback for the Falcons, having appeared in four games with Atlanta so far in 2020. This year, the veteran has recorded seven combined tackles with one tackle for loss. In 2019, he had 85 tackles along with two interceptions at safety for the Falcons.

Another thing that makes Allen an attractive player to add is that he will be entering the final year of his contract in 2021, so any team that trades for him wouldn’t have to be forced with committing to him long term necessarily. Allen is set to make about $8.4 million in 2021.

With a youth movement underway at the back end of the Falcons defense, this could be an opportunity to get something for Allen while allowing some of those younger players the ability to log more playing time in what will end up being another lost season in Atlanta.
