FanDuel NFL Week 8 Picks and Advice: Running Backs

The running back position is incredibly deep in Week 8, which usually makes me build my lineups with a running back in the flex, as they provide a much higher level of consistency than wide receivers. Of the top backs, you really can not go wrong with any of Derrick Henry ($9,500), Dalvin Cook ($9,200) and Alvin Kamara ($9,000), though the best value is Kareem Hunt ($8,200).

He is likely to be a popular play, as he is an incredible talent against a weak Raiders run defense but I would put him in as many cash game lineups as you can, as he will be a top-10 back this week, barring injury.

Similarly, Jonathan Taylor ($7,300) has been underwhelming since he took over the starting role but has a mouthwatering matchup versus Detroit and should also easily finish in the top 10. There is also lots of value to be had in the Green Bay and Cincinnati backfields, as Aaron Jones ($8,500) is out and Joe Mixon ($,7400) looks likely to miss another week.

Although Jamaal Williams ($7,000) and Giovanni Bernard ($5,900) have been priced up slightly, they are still both solid values if they were to have the starter roles. As for cheaper running backs, Le’Veon Bell ($6,000) has the potential to have a nice game as twenty point favorites against his former team. JaMycal Hasty ($5,600) is also a great play in tournaments, as he appears to be the best bet this week in the 49ers backfield roulette.

As for running backs I am fading, James Conner ($6,900) against Baltimore and D’Andre Swift ($6,500) against Indianapolis are not matchups I want any part of. I am also avoiding Jerick McKinnon ($6,000), as the 49ers coaching staff has not shown any faith in him to lead the backfield the past few weeks even with multiple backs out with injury. Hasty is a much better value at $400 cheaper.

FanDuel NFL Week 8 Picks and Advice: Wide Receiver

Wide receiver is also extremely deep this week, but it is also the position where you can have the highest upside while saving the most amount of money, so that is something to keep in mind. Of the studs, Davante Adams ($9,100) has a great chance to put up another monster game and currently sits as the WR17 on the season despite only playing in three full games.

Both of Seattle’s receivers have shown their upside all season, though Tyler Lockett ($7,200) is the better value over D.K. Metcalf ($7,800). A.J. Brown ($7,500) continues to be underpriced despite putting up consistent WR1 weeks when healthy and should put up another against a weak Cincinnati defense. Finally, Keenan Allen ($7400) has established himself as Justin Herbert’s favorite target and could be in line for a big game against Denver.

Of the mid-range wide receivers, Justin Jefferson ($6,600) and Tee Higgins ($6,000) have great matchups and Diontae Johnson ($6,200) has shown he is the Steeler’s WR1 when he can stay on the field past the first quarter. If you want to go even deeper, look no further than Nelson Agholor ($5,000), who has three straight touchdowns and a juicy matchup and Rashard Higgins ($5,500), who should see an uptick in targets with the injury to Odell Beckham Jr.

As for wide receivers I am avoiding, Tyreek Hill ($8,100) will have to do his damage early on against the Jets to repay his price, and even though it is possible, it is a risk I most likely will not be taking. Adam Thielen ($7,700) is priced as the WR5 and torched Green Bay in their first matchup, but will likely be matched up with Jaire Alexander, who has shutdown star receivers all year.

Kenny Golladay ($7,600) against Indianapolis is also a tough play, as the Lions passing offense has been unable to get anything going against easy matchups all year.
