4. San Francisco 49ers vs. Seattle Seahawks

One of the best season-long battles of the 2019 campaign came out of the NFC West with the Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers. In the 2020 NFL season, however, it’s been a bit less of a battle between the two. Seattle is atop the division while San Francisco sits at the bottom. Yet, the Niners aren’t out of the division or playoff race just yet.

The 49ers have been ravaged by injuries throughout the season, losing key players and stars on both sides of the ball, some for a handful of games and others for the rest of the season. Head coach Kyle Shanahan has continued to design terrific schemes on offense, though, and the defense has played well enough to keep them competitive amid their hardships.

As for the Seahawks, they haven’t seen many hardships to this point. Quarterback Russell Wilson is the likely favorite for NFL MVP at this point as he’s been playing arguably the best football of his career to this point. Seattle is coming off of their first loss of the season, though, and their defense has been questionable at best.

With the divisional implications and the state of these two teams, this always-heated battle between the Seahawks and 49ers should be quite fun to watch. If San Francisco wants to make the playoffs or have a chance at winning the NFC West, they’ll have to beat Seattle at least once. Sunday afternoon will be their first opportunity to do so.
