Minnesota Vikings bold predictions for Week 9 against the Lions.

The Minnesota Vikings will face off against another NFC North opponent for the second straight game in Week 9 while coming off of an impressive win the road a week ago.

In a mid-season stretch consisting of playing every divisional opponent spanning from Week 8 to Week 10, Minnesota returns back home to welcome in the Detroit Lions to US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis this weekend.

The Vikings and Lions will battle on Sunday afternoon in Minnesota in the first of two games between the squads during the 2020 campaign. Detroit currently sits in third place in the NFC North standings behind the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers, while Minnesota remains at the bottom of the division going into the midway mark in the year.

The Vikings come into the game with an overall record of 2-5 on the season, coming off of a nice 28-22 win over the Packers in Week 8 on the road at Lambeau Field. That win marked the second road victory of the season for the purple and gold.

In the game, Minnesota was able to go neck-and-neck with Green Bay in the opening half, with both teams going into halftime knotted up at 14-14. In the second half, the Vikings pulled away and held off a late-game comeback attempt by the Packers en route to ending a two-game losing streak to get back on the right track going into Week 9.

On the other side of the field this weekend, Detroit comes into the contest at 3-4 overall while most recently falling to the Indianapolis Colts 41-21 last weekend in Week 8 in Detroit. The loss ended a two-game winning streak for the Lions, pushing back below the .500 mark on the season.

In the game, Indianapolis was able to score all 41 of its points in the final two quarters of each half, scoring 20 points in the second quarter to carry a 20-7 lead into halftime and later adding 21 points in the fourth quarter to outscore Detroit 21-14 over the final two frames to secure the 20-point victory.

Sunday’s game is the first of two divisional matchups between Minnesota and Detroit this season, with the second and final game coming later on in the year in Week 17 in Detroit.
