This ended up being a historic win for the Miami Dolphins who knocked off the Arizona Cardinals by three points in Week 9. The win, as noted by Jeff Kerr of CBS Sports, was the fourth in a row for Miami and it was also the first time in the team’s history that a quarterback won his first two career starts.

"“Tua Tagovailoa becomes the first Miami Dolphins quarterback to win his first two career starts in 11 years as he out-dueled Kyler Murray in the desert. Tagovailoa completed 20 of 28 passes for 248 yards and threw for two touchdowns in leading Miami to a huge 34-31 comeback victory over the Arizona Cardinals. The Dolphins scored 10 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to pull off the upset, led by Tagovailoa’s game-tying 11-yard touchdown pass to Mack Hollins with 11:19 left that sparked the comeback.” — Kerr, CBS Sports"

In Week 8, Tua was more of a game manager as they knocked off the Rams. He had just 93 yards passing with a touchdown and no picks. In Week 9, we saw more of the player we expected when he came out of Alabama.

The rookie was efficient with his 248 yards and added 35 with his legs in the win. It also moved Miami to 5-3 as they’ve quietly become a team to watch in the AFC when it comes to the playoff race.
