15. . . Previous: 3rd. New Orleans Saints. 3. team

The New Orleans Saints are a weird team. They’re really good, but they’re weird.

Before their game against the San Francisco 49ers, there was a report that they could be fined for sharing a video of them celebrating in the locker room following a Week 9 win over the Buccaneers. Normally this wouldn’t be an issue but in the post-COVID world, this could cause them to have to pay a hefty fine.

Outside of telling on themselves, they do strange stuff on the field. For example, they love to take their first-ballot Hall of Fame quarterback out for a gadget tight end, Taysom Hill. They also claim Hill is a quarterback, and the face of the future — even though he’s already 30. As much as they love to put Hill on the field for Brees randomly, they decided not to do so when Brees was hurt on Sunday.

After a rib injury suffered by Brees left him sidelined for the second half, the Saints went with Jameis Winston instead of Hill. That’s fine, but Hill is the one with the massive quarterback contract, so it seems weird they wouldn’t see what he had as an actual quarterback.

It would have made even more sense in this game they had in hand. New Orleans was never in danger against the 49ers as they won 27-13 and Winston looked pretty solid even if he didn’t light up the scoreboard. Even with him playing admirably, they surely hope the MRI on Brees’ ribs comes back normal.
