Tua Tagovailoa was 3-0 as the starting quarterback for the Miami Dolphins coming into a Week 11 matchup with the Denver Broncos and it seemed as if they were easily on-track to move to 7-3 overall against a team that they’ve simply been better than throughout the year. Instead, the young Dolphins looked the part of a team whose rebuild is not yet fully complete.

After being sacked six times and, as he admitted himself after the game, holding onto the ball too long too often, the rookie was benched while the Dolphins were trailing as Ryan Fitzpatrick was brought in to try and orchestrate a comeback. His efforts were all for naught, though, as the Dolphins defense wasn’t as dominant as they’d been in recent weeks and Miami ultimately dropped a game that most people expected them to win.

While it’s understandable that Miami fans would be disappointed in the result on Sunday, they shouldn’t be pessimistic about this team. They are still ahead of schedule and still have a shot to make the playoffs. This was indeed a bad performance, though, one that should be expected for a team that has a ton of promise but isn’t the final product of what they are trying to mold at this point.
