The Philadelphia Eagles lost another game and Carson Wentz was a big reason as to why.

It’s been a frustrating season for Philadelphia Eagles fans, but despite all of their struggles, the Birds remain in first place in the NFC East with just three wins on the year. A big reason why the Eagles are so bad is because of Carson Wentz, who leads the NFL in interceptions.

He threw two more picks in Sunday’s loss to Cleveland and overall just looked terrible. This is by far the worst Wentz has looked in his career and if the Eagles weren’t leading the worst division in the league, they’d have benched Wentz long ago.

Wentz’s backup is second-round pick Jalen Hurts, who has played nine games. Hurts has rushed 12 times for 56 yards while catching a pass for a three-yard gain. As a passer, he’s 2-for-2 with 27 yards. There hasn’t been a lot of film on Hurts as a pro quarterback, but if the Eagles are looking to make a change and give the offense a much-needed spark, making the switch to Hurts might not be the worst idea.

Jalen Hurts could give the Philadelphia Eagles offense some life.

At this point, Wentz is killing the Eagles offense with his poor decision-making. The two picks he threw on Sunday ruined any chances Philly had at winning the ball game and while Hurts might not come in and light up the opposition, he’s something new, and that’s what the Eagles need right now.

Maybe Hurts doesn’t come in and crush it, but it’s worth a shot. Even if the Eagles do make the playoffs, they’re not making it out of the first round with how poorly Wentz has been playing. If they give Hurts a chance to prove himself, the worst that happens is that he plays poorly and they know he’s not ready yet. But they have to at least try because Wentz has proven he’s not the same quarterback anymore.

With the Cowboys and Football Team winning over the weekend and closing the gap in the NFC East, the Eagles need to find a spark and they need to find it fast. Putting Hurts in at quarterback could very well be that spark.
