NFL Coach of the Year 2020: 5 Best candidates after 11 weeks
Sean Payton always seems to find himself on this list and it might seem odd, as the New Orleans Saints are almost always playoff contenders. This year Payton deserves recognition because not only did he turn his team around when they were 1-2 and looking like afterthoughts (yes, even after just three games), but he’s now doing it with a backup quarterback.

Not just a normal backup quarterback either, but with a guy who hadn’t started an NFL game since he was at BYU in 2016. Taysom Hill is 30 years old and has pretty much been a utility guy since entering the NFL, but he went out there and won the game for the Saints on Sunday.
People were shocked when New Orleans went with Hill over Jameis Winston and all it’s only one game, it appears that maybe we should give Payton more credit than we’re giving him. The guy knows what he’s doing. If he and the Saints win out, they’ll be the No. 1 seed in the NFC without having Drew Brees for the final six games.
Payton is always a Coach of the Year candidate, but he deserves to be up for it more so when he doesn’t have Brees quarterbacking his offense.
