Going into Week 13, that player has been James Robinson and he has been one of the top running backs in the NFL to this point. This weekend against the Vikings, Minnesota will have its hands full with the dominant running back while trying to keep that ground game in check on Sunday afternoon.
Through 11 games so far in 2020, Robinson ranks near the top of the league in multiple rushing categories along with Vikings running back Dalvin Cook and others. Robinson has tallied 194 rush attempts (fourth-most in NFL) for a total of 890 yards (third-best in NFL), having found the endzone six times along the way.
When it comes to Minnesota’s run defense, that unit has taken a bit of a hit so far this season and ranks near the bottom of the league in defending the ground game. The Vikings enter Week 13 having given up 321 rush attempts (10th-most in NFL) for a total of 1,630 yards (sixth-worst in NFL) and 14 touchdowns (sixth-most in NFL). Opposing offenses are also averaging five yards per carry against Minnesota, which is tied for the most among defenses in the league.
The Vikings defense has played better as of late, but they have their work cut out for them this weekend when facing off against a run-heavy offense in the Jaguars led by Robinson out of the backfield.
