2. Taylor Moton, Offensive Tackle

Losing Dak Prescott doomed the Cowboys season. There’s no arguing that, but it was hard to take them too seriously even before he was hurt. Not only were they terrible on defense but every drive felt as though it hinged on Prescott making a miraculous play with no help from his offensive line.

This was because the line was also decimated by injuries. Dallas has been without La’el Collins all season and Tyron Smith for every game except two. They’ve also had injuries suffered by Cameron Erving, Joe Looney, and Zack Martin. In short, their line has been a dumpster fire.

At this point, it’s become clear they need to address some of that — with the primary concern being Smith. The All-Pro left tackle has been missing time consistently since 2016. While he’s been a star for them, the Cowboys need a new left tackle. And with all their needs on defense, it might make more sense to use their top pick on a defensive play-maker while signing someone to replace Smith.

This is where Taylor Moton comes in. A second-round pick from Western Michigan, Moton has started the past 44 games for the Panthers and is scheduled to be a free agent in 2021. Moton is also in the midst of his best season as a pro as he’s shown incredible growth every season since being drafted. He won’t be cheap but the Cowboys would save money moving on from Smith while also having other options on the table to free up space.
