New York Jets 2021 free agent target No. 1: Bud Dupree, EDGE

Another expensive option here for the Jets to pursue but another that may well be worth it. Bud Dupree can act as the coveted edge rusher the Jets have not been able to get a hold of in recent years.

Playing the 2020 season with the Steelers on the franchise tag, Dupree had 8.0 sacks this year and two forced fumbles before his season ended prematurely due to a torn ACL. But as he looks to make a full recovery, he would be a huge asset for the New York defensive front.

Dupree would provide excitement and leave the Jets with an exciting set of players, especially putting the current Steeler on the outside of second-year standout defensive lineman Quinnen Williams. Dupree is also only 27 years old, which means the Jets could get many productive years out of him and it could prove a great long-term investment.

Should New York be able to pull off this signing, Dupree could be a driving force in this Jets defense and would allow the front office to focus on the ailing secondary in the draft. With the return of linebacker C.J. Mosley next year after his decision to opt-out in 2020, the Jets would have their linebacker corps set with the addition of Dupree.
