Stud: Getting key turnovers on defense

One thing that the Vikings were able to do on Sunday, specifically late in the game, was getting key turnovers when it mattered most. Overall, Minnesota was able to force Jacksonville into a total of four turnovers, including two interceptions out of the hands of Mike Glennon while recovering two fumbles along the way.

The biggest turnover of the game came during overtime when Vikings safety Harrison Smith picked off Glennon to allow Minnesota to take over and end up claiming the win in extra time. The Vikings defense didn’t play terribly great in the win, but they came up big when they needed to and helped Minnesota come away with a win.

Dud: Giving up large chunk plays

Although the Vikings defense was able to get some key turnovers and did just enough to come away with the win over the Jaguars, one thing that they could have done a better job at was limiting the amount of large chunk plays Jacksonville was able to accomplish on its side of the ball.

Overall, the Jaguars finished with a total of 124 yards rushing and one touchdown along with 280 yards receiving and one touchdown by the end of the game. Specifically when it came to the passing attack, Jacksonville saw four different receivers notch receptions of 20 yards or more, with Collin Johnson securing a game-long catch of 34 yards.

The large chunk plays, specifically in the passing game, has been an issue for Minnesota and it was once again this weekend in Week 13.
