Miami Dolphins certainly have to enjoy the taste of being the team that officially ended the playoff hopes of the rival Patriots with their 22-12 win at home on Sunday. But they should also feel confident in the fact that this team faced some pretty tall odds coming into the Week 15 game and still came out on top.

Rookie quarterback Tua Tagovailoa came into this game already behind the 8-ball as arguably his three top pass-catching weapons — DeVante Parker, Mike Gesicki and Jakeem Grant — were all unavailable for this game. But that didn’t stop the offense from finding success and the defense from being dominant once again.

Tagovailoa completed 20-of-26 passes for only 145 yards and threw a red-zone interception but he stepped up and showed his toughness and moxie with two crucial rushing touchdowns. With Salvon Ahmed and Matt Breida rushing for over 200 combined yards, the defense did its job and the rest was history.

The Dolphins are in a precarious spot in terms of their playoff chances as they likely need to beat the Bills in Week 17 to make the field. But even with that, this team is clearly in a great spot moving forward whether or not they make the playoffs or not.
