New England Patriots bold predictions for Week 17 vs. the Jets.

The New England Patriots enter the final game of the 2020 regular season in a rare spot of it being the reality of the final game of the year for the Patriots.

After failing to reach the postseason in the AFC this season, New England will round out the regular season schedule in Week 17 when it returns home to host an AFC East opponent at Gillette Stadium one final time.

In what will be a battle of the bottom two teams in the division, the regular-season finale will consist of the Patriots hosting the suddenly streaking New York Jets in Foxborough on Sunday afternoon.

The matchup will be the second and final contest between the two squads in 2020, with the Patriots taking the first game of the year against the Jets back on Monday Night Football in Week 9 by a score of 30-27 in New York.

New England comes into the game with a record of 6-9 overall, having lost three straight and most recently getting blown out by the Buffalo Bills 38-9 on Monday Night Football in Week 16.

With both teams out of playoff contention and looking to end the season on a high note on Sunday afternoon in Foxborough, let’s dive into three bold predictions for the Patriots as they host the Jets in Week 17.

3. Low scoring contest will take place

The Week 17 matchup at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough to round out the season will feature teams in New England and New York that both carry a pair of the worst offenses in the entire NFL.

With that said, that will result in both the Patriots and Jets putting together a low-scoring contest in the regular-season finale while New England looks to sweep the two-game series against an AFC East opponent here in 2020.

Coming into the final week of the year, New England has the 30th-ranked offense in the NFL, including the eighth-best running game and the 31st-ranked passing attack. The inconsistencies in the passing game and through the air have been one of the biggest glaring weaknesses on the Patriots squad so far this season.

On the other side of the field on Sunday afternoon, the Jets will counter with an even worse offense compared to the Patriots, entering the contest with the worst-ranked offensive unit in the NFL. New York’s offense includes the 22nd-ranked rushing attack and the worst passing game in the league.

In a battle between two teams who are not going to be playing in the playoffs once the schedule concludes, the game between New England and New York will be a low scoring one and a contest where both sides look at pieces who could return to each team in 2021.
